[space height=”20″] So, as I sit to get my mani/pedi, I decide:
I CAN WRITE MY BLOG WHILE SHE DOES MY FEET AND BEFORE WE GET TO FINGERS!
I just finished my upper body workout with my awesome coach. Earlier today was my hairdresser’s appointment, and she is several zip codes away. I was up at the crack of dawn to edit pages. Part one of the day finished. What was inspiring about my journey this week? Sticking to my diet for one thing. That’s huge for me. It’s easy to be disciplined when all ducks are lined up in a row. Sometimes I chew so much gum in an effort not to break my diet that I cannot bite down the next day. (whatever works.) But when you burn the candle at both ends, from early morning to late night, will power tends to descend the scale at a commensurate speed.
MENTORS AND FRIENDS
This is where my mentors and friends come in. I pull strength from wherever I can get it at these times.
Do you have mentors and friends? I was confiding to a friend recently that it seems all I do is work, work out, cook, eat, repeat. (Oh, yeah, and wash the dishes.)
These, of course, are my “complaining” days when I feel so maxed out. Every other time, and with the same schedule, I’m loving life just the way it is, because these are MY choices.
THE BATTLE OF WILLPOWER AND THE STRUGGLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING INEVITABLY EXISTS WHEN ONE IS EXHAUSTED. CAN ANYONE RELATE?
MY INSPIRATIONS FROM ALL WALKS
Time now for a shout out to those that inspire and egg me on, whether they are aware of it or not:
• MY AWESOME COACH
• TEAMMATES, THE PRECISION DIVAS
• MY FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK Whether they are competitors, moms, moms to be, professionals in corporate America, students…I love reading your posts and your different approaches to life. Super encouraging.
A special shout out to the staff at the various facilities where I sing that always have things “just so” when I arrive. You know who you are….. :) You make my job so much easier. It’s like you know I’ve been up since 4:00 a.m. and been going nonstop and here I am to perform for ya!!
FITNESS AND CHECKUPS
So here goes: About five weeks ago, I noticed/discovered a lump in my breast. To say I was nervous and scared would be putting it mildly. I told no one. I kept at my schedule giving my very best as I do. I kept trying to make a doctor’s appointment around my “busy schedule.”
WAIT A MINUTE! What is most important here?
Can you commiserate, Sisters? For five weeks, there never seemed to be an “appropriate time” to make an appointment. It was nerve wracking waiting for results once I did get in. I was doing the usual routines every day with the looming/pending appointment always on the back of my mind. Let’s just say that working out and staying focused on work and performing on my gigs and being pleasant with a happy countenance and not falling to pieces took a huge toll emotionally!!
ONE WEEK LATER…..
As I’m sitting here getting a mani/pedi, my lashologist calls and said, “I know you are busy, and I’m booked for the next two weeks. I can see you tonight at 9:00.” So guess where I will be tonight? The process is two hours, so there goes anything I might have planned for this evening as far as doing pages or getting caught up on other work, etc. I want this done, right? My choice to do it right? (This, of course, is self-talk, because it is ALWAYS about our choices.) This I consider to be a perfect example of how sometimes we just have to be flexible with our schedule and make things work to our advantage. Don’t stress. Make it work. Make it happen.
I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!! EACH OF YOU IS AWESOME!!
Speaking of awesome, I saw Bill Neylon today! Wow. Talk about a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fitness industry. He is truly invaluable. You can’t help but be inspired after speaking with Bill.

I just sent another text to my coach, Janis, to remind her of how awesome she is! This woman works tirelessly from 4:00 a.m. every day, all day! She gives of herself tirelessly and with relentless commitment. Get your gratefulness in, Sisters…. Do you appreciate someone? Let them know….
If multitasking is what you do, never feel guilty if you have to give more attention to one goal more than another on any given week. After all, the very meaning of multitasking….. Does it make for a very busy time? YES!! Can we multitask and still get our workouts in? A resounding YES!! Why, workout IS part of it all….not an addition. This view/approach to the fitness journey is how we get to:
IT’S A PART OF LIFE/IT’S MY LIFESTYLE
FYI: My meals are in the car. That way I don’t resort to junk food or skipping meals. Whatever you do, however you multitask, have a plan.

Come back in six months. Don’t put it off, Sisters. Get your routine test. This is not one of those things that we can afford to be flexible with.
SO THAT WAS/IS MY WEEK
Does it seem like I rambled on and on this week? To me it does. But you know what? It reflects exactly how my week has been, A RAMBLE. Sometimes you feel like a hamster on a wheel and someone else is spinning it! Just breathe and prioritize. Shed those guilty feelings of something else getting “ignored.” Prioritize. Switch things around. Make things work for you! REMEMBER: Nothing is set in stone. Be flexible. Do not be afraid or too flustered to approach a task or goal from another angle. P.S. and case in point: I am editing and proofing this blog and its contents before it goes live. I am sitting in the courthouse after covering a hearing and just before a 10:00 a.m. depo. Attorney friend walks by: “How are you”? Me: “Great!” Guess what? He had a four-hour hearing that just evolved into a four-day hearing.
See? Everyone has days, weeks, and months like this.
Keep in touch with your center. Don’t lose focus. Keep pushing on. Above all, stay true to your fitness journey, whatever it may be….
